DUNSTON PARISH COUNCIL

Meeting minutes from Monday 9th October 2023

Present: Cllrs McLuckie, Duncan, Lamyman, Rankin, Phillipson, Pellew, Ms Donnelly of the Rivers Trust. 

Public session

23097 The poor condition of the cemetery was raised. Despite the recent improvement (supported by the efforts of councillors and others as well as the contractors It was agreed that the PC would seek to improve the condition, possibly aided by a village handyman if that position can be filled.

Council session

23098 Apologies for absence: Cllrs Treece, Armstrong; Clerk Barbour

23099 To receive members’ declarations of disposable pecuniary, non-disclosable pecuniary or non-pecuniary interests in relation to any agenda item.

Action: None

23100 The minutes of the previous meeting on 18 Sept 2023 were agreed as a true record.

23101 Ms Donnelly gave an update on the Rivers Trust plans for Dunston Beck. 

1.   The work planned has needed an increase in the budget.

Action: PD

2.   She agreed to confirm exact which parts of the banks were owned by the PC.

3.   Agreement by the PC will be required for a twice a year check of the new berms, and an annual trim and removal of weeds and saplings.

Chairman’s report

Cllr McLuckie gave thanks for those Council members who assisted with repair/restoration of the play equipment on each of the last 2 Saturdays.

Highways

23102 It was resolved to respond to the offer of a visit from G Butler (Lincs Road Partnership) to agree a location for the village speed sign. 

The additional issues of the B1188 speed limit reduction and the very short 60mph zone from Dunston to Metheringham were also to be raised.

The pot-holes at the entrance to the Heath Rd were also to be raised.

Environment

There were no new important issues to address from the Village Keeper.

23103    The replacement bench had been assembled and will be sited by the bus stop following removal of the existing seat to the VH grounds.

Playing Field

23104    There are additional improvements to be made to the Zip-wire

23105 Spraying of weeds by Glendale required assurance

Action: PD

23106    Monitoring the implementation of contract work carried out on behalf of the PC along with minor works around the village was discussed and a suitable candidate to fulfill that role was to be sought. (17Hrs/mnth)          PD/RM

Village Hall

23107    The roof leak and defects in the electrical system and fire exit signage are out for quotations for the required work. Thought to cost approx. £1000

23108 An update on a quote for the car park is to be sought

23109 Salaries and expenses since the last meeting were agreed for payment.

Future actions

23110 Arrangements for removal & re-siting of benches will be on “watsapp”.
