Minutes of the Dunston Parish Council Meeting Held on Monday 17th April 2023

Present:

Cllrs Pellew, Duncan, Philipson, Lamyman, Armstrong.

Council Session

23031   To receive apologies and accept valid reasons of absence:

Received from Cllrs McLuckie, Moore and Treece and NKDC Cllr Bailey. 

In the absence of the Chair and Vice-Chair Cllr Duncan was elected to chair this meeting.

23032   To receive members’ declarations of disposable pecuniary, non-disclosable pecuniary or non-pecuniary interests in relation to any agenda item. No changes

23033    The minutes of the previous meeting on 13th February 2023 were agreed as a true record with the exception of the duplication of the number 23029.

23034   LCC Cllr Kendrick presented his monthly report which included confirmation that the potholes on Back Lane were scheduled for attention.

23035   A request to park a camper van in the playground car park for the bank holiday weekend at the end of May for the owner to attend a 2 day wedding event in the village was approved.

23036 The flooding which occurs after heavy rain on Front Street is to be reported again to “FixmyStreet”.

23037   Action to repair the playing field and dog-walking area surfaces after the extensive Chafer grub and bird damage was discussed. Wild flower planting has been proposed by some members of the community. Mechanical assistance to lay the rubber matting over the badly worn areas could be beneficial.

23038   The completion of the Hedge Project by the school was to be welcomed. The plan would be finalized once term had started again. Funds to purchase the saplings were agreed.

23039   The final report on the 21/22 AGAR had now been received. A further breakdown of the extra costs should be requested from PKF Littlejohn before settling that part of their invoice. A complete review of the Asset Register should take place this year.

23040   The end of year financial position was discussed. A decision to move some funds into a savings account would be made at the next meeting after due consideration of the interest rates available. 

23041   It was confirmed that the payment of £210 to Mr. Dick Seddon to thank him for 5 years maintaining the accuracy of the church clock had been approved.

23042   All the organisations which had given presentations at last year’s Annual Parish Meeting were to be offered the same opportunity at this year’s meeting and any others coming forward in time should be also.

Next Meeting:      17th May 2023 at 1900 for the Annual Parish Meeting, followed by the inaugural session of the 2023 Dunston Parish Council.
