Council Session
Apologies received from Cllr Armstrong, Treece and NKDC Cllr Parry.
No declarations of interest were received.
The Chairman welcomed new Cllr Alan Craig to the meeting.
The minutes of the meeting on 10th February 2025 were approved and signed by the Chairman.
The Chairman confirmed that the review of Standing Orders and Procedures had been completed. The Asset Register would be distributed to all Cllrs. TB
It was suggested that our defibrillator could be more accessed more quickly in the event of emergency if the cabinet were left unlocked. However, this change in procedure could leave it more open to vandalism. The clerk was instructed to contact other PCs to see if any had had such an experience. TB
It was resolved to advertise the Community Speedwatch programme at the May parish Meeting to try to increase the number of potential volunteers because with only 3 so far participation was not a practical proposition. RM PD
Quotes for the remaining small projects (paving by the Beacon, widening the emergency exit path beside the VH and siting and filling the 5 planters round the village ready for use) had been received and were accepted. PD
It was confirmed that Glendale had been sent a contract for the next 3 years for the ground maintenance in the village. The state of the playing field was discussed (moles and chafer bugs in particular). The question of trapping moles was deferred to the next meeting to allow time to research more humane methods to control the issue. All
It was suggested that the boundary markings for the cemetery extension were becoming very faded and it was agreed that they should be renewed. TB
The decision (25025) to reject the ransom strip of land beside the playing field was revisited and it was resolved to defer a final decision until the actual legal costs were known and the residents directly affected had been consulted. RM PD LT
It was regretted that no report from the VH management committee was available to the meeting.
The financial position at the end of February was satisfactory. It was resolved to add Cllr Duncan to the list of signatories at the bank. TB
The next meeting of the Parish Council will take place in the Lamyman room in the Dunston Village Hall at 1900 on Monday 14th April.
