The minutes of the meeting of 13th May 2024 were agreed as a true record.  PD stating that it was essential we all reviewed the minutes and ensure we brought forward action points to the next meeting within matters arising.

Member of public raised the issue of access to the Clerk’s email when he was absent.  Suggestion for access to Clerk’s email in absence by Chair and Vice Chair

Member of public raised the issue of street lighting and that Fix My Street was not working effectively.  PD to take up with Rob Kendrick.

Quarry visit has been success and very interesting, further visit arranged for 01/07/2024.

As far as we were aware we had received no applications for the vacancy of Parish Councillor via NKDC notice. Await confirmation before looking to co-opt

The D Day celebrations had been well received.  PD confirmed that he had provisionally booked the Village Hall for Saturday   10/05/2025 to hold a similar event to celebrate VE day. Approved by all present. All ideas to be sent to the VH Manager who had agreed to co-ordinate the event

Speed sign was now working, it was agreed that we would get another speed sign which would be sited on Fen Lane.  We needed to do some further investigation before purchasing, for a supplier that services the equipment on -site.

Awaiting response from LCC to the proposed speed reduction on Dunston Road.  PD confirmed he would chase

TB had circulated the Rights of Way Survey and PD provided copies of the public rights of way to the meeting.  We needed to know what the implications would be of adopting public Rights of Way and the cost implication to DPC.  SR agreed that he would review.

The junction of B1188 was overgrown and restricting driver’s view. Agreed to contact relevant organisations.  BL agreed to contact Dyson re hedge and LP agreed to log on Fix my Street.

Suggestion raised that it seemed apparent that the traffic was not adhering to the amended speed limit at the B1188 junction and whether we could get some form of temporary speed monitor for this.  PD confirmed he would raise with Highways at same time as he raised other matters arising.

Agreed that the Better / NKDC offering of organising free events for the Over 50s, Health Checks and Juniors that was circulated by TB was a good idea and to progress.

The Emergency Plan was completed.  SR to provide copy to TB for logging with Flood Resilience Forum and uploading redacted version for website.  SR confirmed that there was some amendment to the information flyer and he would amend and print.  Timeframe of 2 weeks.  All members present agreed to distribute leaflets within village.

We had received the dog bin however it was thought the metal post was inadequate. To review potential fixings.

Awaiting two remaining planters, needed a limestone base and the siting within the village

It was raised that the bank alongside the Green/Fen Lane was overgrown.  PD confirmed that Glendale was due to cut this 13/5.  LCC had responsibility for the verge.

It was agreed that the trees on the Fen Lane side of the Beck bank needed coppicing.  LP to contact tree officer to see if approval was required and advise PD who would then seek a review and quote from Glendale

There were still issues with Highways/Paths within the village that just didn’t seem to be progressing.  PD to raise with Rob Kendrick – no action on the Beck, the bridge pathway over the beck and the main bridge which needed repair.

Agreed to test water pumps to check in working order and relevant people know how to use them. Andy Sampson to be asked to assist.

Loop system in the Village Hall awaiting final costings from RM but agreed to go for the Loop System with Mic.

Agreed to erect new noticeboard as it was a good means of village communication for those with no access to social media.

Village signs – BL confirmed that he was still to talk to local artist about designing a Welcome sign and PD also confirmed that still investigating the idea of a signpost to key points of interest in the Village

Agree to accept proposal from Kevin Green to extend concrete base around the new shed and to expand the emergency route from the Hall. PD also to progress the bases for picnic benches in the Playing field

The Church Clock and War Memorial appeared to be the responsibility of Parish Council.  We need to establish reinstatement costs and whether we should insure and at what cost, and what value should be entered on asset register.
